Telemate Speaker

A random eBay find. It seems to be from the 1970s or 1980s. A regular telephone plugs into it. It has an integral cord with an RJ11 plug to connect to the line. Dial with the phone, then press the big button. The phone can then go back on the hook, which is necessary for clear audio. After that, the sound of the call comes from the speaker. It has a microphone, which can be turned off with the smaller "Mute" button. Press the big button again to hang up.

The audio distorts badly at higher volumes. When I first got it, I thought the speaker was blown, but physically it appears to be holding up fine after 40 years. I think my ATA is louder than the lines it was intended for.
